United Way, OnTrack Help Accident Victim Keep Home – Brevard NC

Lisa Haney was a paralegal for a prominent Asheville lawyer. Years ago, she was driving home and had a head-on collision. She had to be pried from her vehicle by the “jaws of life,” and was then airlifted to Mission where she stayed for months. Over the next four years, she had to slowly learn how to maneuver a wheelchair, to walk, to read, and care for herself in her new reality.

After the accident, Lisa’s husband had trouble coping with her disability, which led to a divorce. Lisa was disabled, newly single, and wheelchair-bound with a young toddler to care for.
