New Shelter

 


A week ago Saturday, a vision for many Transylvanians was realized: the new animal shelter opened on Calvert Road near Rosman.

For years, local residents had known the old shelter on Ross Road was obsolete. It was fit for neither man nor animal. In 2004, the Board of Commissioners requested an analysis of the need for a new shelter. Since that time, several obstacles arose. While the county had plans for a shelter, it did not have a location. In a meeting with the county commissioners and Rosman Board of Aldermen a few years ago, the people of Rosman let it be known that they did not want...
