Veteran Recognized With Award - Brevard NC

The Melvin J. Maas Award Winner for 2013 is Joe James Parker, U.S. Navy retired, director of the Blinded Veterans Association (BVA) District 3, a Transylvania County native and Pisgah Forest resident.

He was elected July 20, 2010, as director of District 3. Parker represents blinded veterans residing in the city of Washington, D.C., and in 10 states along the eastern seaboard from New Jersey to South Carolina.
