'The Forgotten War' Remembered - Brevard NC

Between June 25, 1950 and July 27, 1953, the Korean War led to roughly 35,000 casualties from the U.S. armed services, plus another 8,000 reported missing in action.

Among those who died were three men from Transylvania County: W. Cameron Hubbard, Dover C. Hudson and Haskell D. Powell.

After reading the names on the granite obelisk outside of the Transylvania County courthouse countless times during memorial events over the years, Roy Bird, a Korean War veteran, said he felt compelled to find out more about the three men who died in the conflict.
