She was born Jan. 20, 1923, in Andrews, N.C. to the late Pearlie and Bessie Almond Arrowood. In addition to her parents, her husband, Joe Bob Brown Sr., a brother, Wayne Arrowood, and two sisters, Gladys Arrowood and Zinna Mae Arrowood, preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters Susie Landreth and husband, John Leroy, of Brevard, and Jean Cabe and husband, Tom, of Penrose; two sons, Bob Brown and wife, Gustina, and Ronnie Brown and wife, Barbara, all of Brevard; one sister, Maxine Bates, of Welcome, N.C.

She was a doting "Nanny" to 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and was called "Aunt Sarah" by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition, she is survived by countless lifelong neighbors and friends who will miss her kind, generous and fun loving spirit.

A member of East Fork Baptist Church, she enjoyed the old time hymns, which she had learned to play on the piano as a young girl. While at The Oaks of Brevard, she entertained herself and the other patients playing her favorite hymns on a keyboard.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the M.S.U. staff at The Oaks of Brevard for the loving care she received for the last 2-1/2 years.
