Housing For Teachers

In a recent letter to the editor, Jim Wilson’s assumption that tax dollars would be used to develop teacher housing is mostly in error. The Community Land Trust is working to acquire a private interest-free loan for BHS and Rosman students to dry-in houses which will be finished by local electricians, plumbers, HVAC contractors, insulators and finish carpenters.
Students, taught and supervised by tax paid teachers, have been constructing houses as a hands-on learning laboratory for over two decades. Materials were primarily purchased from a private bequest account given to the schools. T...
