Charles Newton Kelley

Charles Newton Kelley, of Brevard, passed away Jan. 1, 2014 at Transylvania Regional Hospital in Brevard.

He was born Sept. 29, 1924, to the late Cornelious and Clara Sanders Kelley. His wife, Jimmie Lou Kelley, preceded him in death.

He is survived by one daughter, Deborah Morgan, of Westminster, S.C .; two sons, Charles Scott Kelly and his wife, Kathy, of Brevard, and Bruce Kelley and his wife, Amy, of Pisgah Forest; six grandchildren, Chris Morgan, Jason Owen, Breanne Kelley, David Kelly and his wife, Jennifer, Katie Kelley and Matthew Kelley; one great-grandchild, Grayson Kelley, and one sister, Ruth Corn, of Lugoff, S.C.

He retired from the Winn-Dixie Grocery Store after more than 40 years as manager. As manager, he changed and affected the lives of numerous young people by offering them employment at the store.

He was a man who lived the Christian Faith.

The family received friends Saturday, Jan. 4. 2014, from 10 a.m. until noon at Brevard-Davidson Presbyterian Church, 249 E. Main St., in Brevard.

A funeral service was held at noon.

Interment followed at Gillespie-Evergreen Cemetery.
