John Fennemore Krause

John Fennemore Krause, 76, of Brevard, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014, at his residence.

A native of Phoenix, Ariz., he was the son of the late Martin Warren and Elizabeth Fennemore Krause. In addition to his parents, his former wife, Rosemary Gillian Bates, of London, England, preceded him in death.

A veteran of the United States Army, he was a graduate of the Army Finance School. He also received undergraduate degrees from the University of Colorado in political science and business and received his M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

He served as president of the Arizona Bighorn Sheep Society, chief gun safety instructor for the state of Arizona, was an adjunct professor of real estate at Community College in Phoenix, and graduated from the VISION program for Transylvania County.

He was a lay reader at St. Philip's Episcopal Church of Brevard and also served on the church vestry, finance committee and as trustee of The Foundation of St. Philip's.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Joanne Curry Krause; children, Julia Anne Krause Wilson (Timothy), of Boulder, Colo., Matthew John Krause, of Phoenix, John Warren Krause (Emily), of Phoenix, Mark Ellsworth Gregg, of Washington, Scott Pierce Curry (Meg), of Decatur, Ala., James Hartley Gregg Jr. (Lisa), of Placida, Fla .; granddaughters, Jenna Marie Wilson, of Boulder, Hannah Lindahl Curry, Grace Randall Curry and Gabrielle Curry, all of Decatur; sister, Elizabeth Sherman (John), of Asheville, and brother, Richard J. Krause (Nancy), of Phoenix; and two furry children dogs, Beau, a Labradoodle, and Talullah Bankhead, a Cavachon.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014, at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, in Brevard, with Rev. William Livingston and Rev. Diane Livingston officiating.
