Douglas "Doug" C. Boenau


Douglas “Doug” C. Boenau, 79, of Hendersonville, passed away peacefully Friday, May 23, 2014, at the Elizabeth House with his family by his side.

He was the son of the late Arthur and Elizabeth Dykeman Boenau, of Flushing, N.Y.

He was a graduate of Amherst College in Amherst, Mass., and then followed a career of factory service for several medical equipment companies in Connecticut.

He and his wife, Sally, retired to North Carolina in 1998, where he spent the “happiest years of my life.”

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sally; daughter, Jennifer Brown and husband, Cliff; grandchildren, Seth and Cheyenne, of Rosman; sister, Janet Bostwick, of Hendersonville, and brother, Bruce Boenau, of Gettysburg, Pa.

In honor of him and his passion for the game of golf, the family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Junior Golf Scholarship of Sherwood Forest Golf Club, 29 Cardinal Drive, Brevard, NC 28712, or the charity of your choice.

There will be a celebration of life for him at his home in Hendersonville Saturday, June 14, from 2 to 4 p.m.
