City Council Backs 1-Cent Tax Increase - Brevard NC

A 1-cent property tax increase to help pay for staffing the fire department in the evening and to construct a bike/hike path near Cherry Street were backed by Brevard City Council Monday during its second budget workshop.

A 1-cent increase in the city’s tax rate brings in roughly $90,000, which equates to about $20 a year more in property taxes for a $200,000 home.

The city’s current property tax rate is $.4525 cents per $100 of valuation.

The $90,000, however, wouldn’t completely pay for both projects.
