City Utility Bills Could Go Up – Brevard NC

 


This year, the city of Brevard’s annual debt from loans to pay for improvements to its utility system is $300,000. By 2018, the debt amount will be more than $1 million.

To help pay for that debt and the continuing operational costs for providing water and sewer services, Brevard City Council recommended Monday lowering the minimal amount a utility customer starts getting charged from 2,000 gallons a month to 1,500 gallons.

City staff estimates it will increase the monthly water and sewer bill by $7.50 for the average household, which uses about 3,000 gallons a month.
