What An Honor

Today I attended a memorial service for a 94 year-old World War II Veteran. There aren’t many of those left, so it was a distinct honor to witness the service and honor of a rapidly fading breed. The religious part of the service was well done and appropriate, but the full military ceremony was moving, solemn and carried a message of well-deserved honor and gratitude.

As the Honor Guard lovingly handled the American flag and presented it to the veteran’s daughter, one could not help but think about exactly what that flag means and dwell on the sacrifices that have been made by so man...
