Speakers Recall County's Racial History - Brevard NC

Saturday, March 7, marked 50 years to the date that peaceful protestors in Selma, Ala., were beaten by police when attempting to march 50 miles from Selma to Montgomery, Ala., as part of the voting rights movement.

The members of the march were attacked with billy clubs and tear gas as they crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge, named after a member of the Ku Klux Klan, and 17 people were hospitalized.
