Restoring A 'Mighty Giant' Focus Of CMLC Presentation - Brevard NC


With average heights reaching more than 80 feet and trunk diameters measuring as much as 12 feet, American chestnut trees once dominated the forests of the eastern United States, ranging from Alabama to Maine and earning the species the moniker of “mighty giant.”

However, over the past century the number of American chestnuts ranging from Alabama to Maine has undergone an unprecedented decline, causing concern among both the scientific and environmental communities.
