Democratic Men’s Club

The Transylvania County Democratic Men’s Club will welcome Brevard Police Chief Phil Harris to its meeting Thursday, May 14.

Harris will be speaking about law enforcement in Brevard in light of national media coverage of events around the country.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at the Pisgah Fish Camp. Come at 6 p.m. and enjoy fellowship with old and new friends while you eat.

The Transylvania County Democratic Men’s Club is an auxiliary organization of the Transylvania County Democratic Party whose membership is open to men and women who are registered Democrats.


The Transylvania County Association of Educators will recognize Friends of Education and retiring teachers at their annual banquet Wednesday, May 20, at 6 p.m. in the Rogow Room of Transylvania County Library.

The Friends of Education are community members who are recognized by each school in the county for donating their time, energy, and resources to support quality education.

Teachers who retire at the end of the 2013-2014 school year will also be recognized.

Tickets for the banquet cost $20. Order tickets online at and pay by credit/debit card. The public is invited.


Susan Myrick, election policy analyst for the Civitas Institute, will be the featured speaker at the Republican Club meeting Saturday, May 16.

Her campaign experience includes Governor Jim Martin’s re-election campaign and Richard Burr’s Congressional runs.

The meeting will be held at Hawg Wild Bar-B-Que in Pisgah Forest with a breakfast buffet starting at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $10 payable at the door. Students with an ID are free.
