Cindy Owens

 


Cindy Owens, 54, of Etowah, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015, surrounded by friends and family at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock after a short battle with cancer.

Born in Henderson County, she was the daughter of Doug Owens, of Etowah, and Tina Owens, of Forest City. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Melissa Fay Smith.

She attended Etowah Elementary School and was a 1979 graduate of West Henderson High School. She was employed by the local Ingles’ markets and was a member of the Etowah United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her son, Christopher “Crow” Smith; four brothers, Steve Owens, Timmy Owens, Troy Thomas and David Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at Etowah United Methodist Church with Rev. David Cook and Rev. Keith Norris officiating.

Burial will follow at Oak Forest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday at Shuler Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the Etowah Lions Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cindy Owens Memorial Fund, 125 Orr’s Camp Road, Hendersonville, NC 28792.
