Yellow Jackets Sting Tigers, Grab Second – Rosman NC

he Tigers rallied from a 6-0 deficit with four runs in the bottom of the sixth, but it was not enough as visiting Hayesville held on to win 6-4 Friday in the regular season finale for both teams.

With the win, the Yellow Jackets (13-3) tie for second in the Smoky Mountain Conference with Murphy, while Rosman drops to third with an 11-5 record.

The Yellow Jackets were up just 2-0 when they scored four runs in the top of the sixth on an error and five singles.

That set the stage for Rosman's rally in the home half of the inning.

Josh Rice drew a two-out walk to get the ball rolling. He moved to second on a single by Cam Dotson.

Dillon Zachary followed with a single that drove in Rice for the first run of the inning.

Tyler Petit singled home Dotson, moving Petit to second and Zachary to third.

Tanner Galloway drew a walk to reload the bases for Kameron Newman, who singled in Zachary and Petit, making it 6-4, Hayesville.

The Yellow Jackets put runners in scoring position on a pair of Tiger errors to start the seventh, but Galloway pitched himself out of the jam with a line-out and a strike-out.

The Tigers went down quietly in the bottom of the seventh.

Newman was 1-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Rosman at the plate.

Petit and Zachary were each 1-for-3 with an RBI apiece. Dotson and Rice were 1-for-3 with a run scored for the Tigers.

Zachary struck out five in 5.1 innings' work.

The Tigers will now await seeding from the N.C. High School Athletic Association.
