Summer Program Keeps Kids Busy Learning And Playing At The Cindy Platt Boys & Girls Club

Few activities are more exciting for the kids than piling on one of the club's four buses to go on a trip. Several of the staffers, such as Sports, Fitness and Recreation Director Emily Taylor, shown here, are qualified drivers and take the children on trips around the region.

County schoolhouses may be silent these summer days, but not the hallways and classrooms of the Cindy Platt Boys & Girls Club. Its eight-week summer program is humming, with more than 300 children signed up for a wide variety of activities designed to teach and entertain.

Inside the club's 25,000-square-foot building on Gallimore Road, and outside on its fields and grounds, an average of 150 youngsters a day gather for fun and games... and some serious learning. To add to the mix, club staffers take them on a variety of field trips to extend the curriculum.
