Legion Post's Creation Honored – Brevard NC

The origin of the local American Legion and Aethelwold Hotel are intertwined dating back to 1920, when the first organizing meeting was held at the hotel.

To commemorate this event of 95 years ago and the recent rebirth of the Aethelwold Hotel, the American Legion Post 88 Brevard presented a plaque of gratitude this past Saturday for being supportive of all soldiers, sailors and marines of Transylvania County that served in World War I.

The Brevard Post is named in tribute of Monroe Wilson, Transylvania County's first WWI casualty.
