Attorney Margaret Hunt To Lead State Bar -Brevard NC

Local attorney Margaret Hunt has been elected president of the N.C. State Bar Association.

Created by the state Legislature in 1933, the State Bar's purpose is to regulate the more than 27,000 licensed lawyers in the state and promulgate rules of professional conduct.

The State Bar is governed by a 62-member council, whose members are lawyers elected by their peers in their hometown districts and by non-lawyers who are appointed by the governor and other elected officials in their prosecutorial districts.
