Students Use 'WILD' Training To Aid Man - Brevard NC

 

Thanks to some training, three Duke University students saved a man's life recently during a school trip in the Pink Beds areas in Pisgah National Forest.

Jared Schwartz, Kyrstin Lulow and Iza Szawiola were going to the Otter Hole, an off-the-beaten-path swimming spot, when they came across a man who was wheezing and holding his chest. While the man was not alone, he only spoke French and was relying on his friend and two children to translate.

The students initially thought he was dehydrated, common in the woods, or suffering from heat stroke, also not impossible given that he was an old...
