Courthouse Design Options Unveiled - Brevard NC

 

An architect Monday presented the Board of Commissioners with three possible designs for a new courthouse adjacent to the public safety facility off Morris Road in Brevard. Dan Mace, with Moseley Architects, called the design "traditional," featuring a similar tower to the current courthouse. The a design is more "modern," Mace said, while the bottom right design Mace described as "transitional," including elements of the current courthouse and more modern features, particularly the windows.

The public got to see Monday what a new county courthouse could look like if the Board of Commissioners decides to go that route.

During Monday's regular commissioner meeting, Dan Mace, with Moseley Architects, presented three possible designs for a new 61,000-square-foot courthouse, with a cost estimate of roughly $21 million to $22 million, on Morris Road in Brevard adjacent to the public safety facility.

A 2013 study indicated it could cost about $11.2 million for a 34,000-square-foot addition to the current downtown courthouse facility, plus the renovation of 1,600 square feet. The $1...
