Public Lands, Parks Funding Set To End -Brevard NC


The Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), a key source of funding for public lands and parks and recreation departments, is set to expire in three days.

The LWCF comes from monies paid by oil and gas companies to drill in public waters off shore. It was created by Congress in 1965 in a bipartisan agreement to protect water, natural and cultural resources. Set in place in all 50 states, it is designed to give the federal government the means to purchase property from private entities for public use.
