Headwaters State Forest Gets More Land – Brevard NC


The proposed Headwaters State Forest has taken another step closer to fruition after The Conservation Fund announced it was awarded $150,000 to acquire an additional tract of land from former Congressman Charles Taylor.

When it opens to the public, Headwaters will conserve the watershed of the East Fork of the French Broad River. At about 8,000 acres between N.C. 178 (Pickens Highway) and U.S. 276 (Greenville Highway), the forest is proposed to eventually have multi-use trails throughout and access to trout streams.
