Norma Curtistine Hamilton Merrill

 


Norma Curtistine Hamilton Merrill, 95, of Kingsport, Tenn., died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at her home.

A native of Penrose, she was the daughter of the late Ansel Lowry Hamilton and Sallie Jane Pickelsimer. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Melvin Evans Hamilton, and Thomas Lowry Hamilton.

She grew up in Little River and was active in Little River Baptist Church in her younger years. She graduated from Brevard High School.

A resident of Kingsport since 1949, she was a strong Christian, and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Kingsport since 1951. She provided for her family as a hairdresser for 46 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Martha Merrill, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Kathy Panaranto and her husband, Randy, of Surgoinsville, Tenn .; a grandson, Denni Feagins and his wife, Melissa, of Kingsport; and four great-grandchildren, Tamara, Ian, Isaac, and Tyler Feagins, of Kingsport; sister-in-law, Polly Hoxit Hamilton, of Hendersonville; beloved nieces and nephews; her double first cousin, Helen Pickelsimer, of Penrose; and other much loved cousins.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, at Thos. Shepherd’s Church Street Chapel in Hendersonville.

Burial followed at Little River Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
