Schools, NAACP Address Racial Tensions - Brevard NC

Members of the Transylvania County School system and local NAACP have been trying to resolve racial incidents that have occurred at Brevard High School this fall.

Those incidents have led to four arrests (see story below) and school disciplinary action.

According to Tommy Kilgore, president of the local chapter of the NAACP, in September he and other NAACP representatives were requested by a parent to attend a meeting with Brevard High administrators regarding an incident in which a white male student allegedly threatened a black female student and used racial slurs.
