Do Not Fear Refugees


I am deeply troubled at the xenophobia exhibited so freely by many of our politicians who hold high office. We are a nation of immigrants. We are, I trust, ashamed that we did not admit more Jews during World War II, saving them from the Nazi death camps.

We are proud of our Italian, German, Latino backgrounds. Now, it is declared, with Syria in the midst of a brutal civil war, families trapped between a ruthless dictator and murderous jihadists should be denied entry to our country.
