Garden Club Plans To 'Dig In' Before Winter Arrives – Brevard NC

The last rose of summer has bloomed, autumn leaves have been raked and western North Carolina has experienced its first freeze. Although winter doesn't officially begin until Dec. 21, apparently weather here in Transylvania County doesn't always follow the calendar.

Transylvania Garden Club (TGC) members, realizing the days of planting will soon be over and gardens put to bed for the winter, researched what could still be planted to help produce spring color. They hoped for one more chance to "dig in" before the ground freezes and snow covers the landscape.
