Resilient Federal Forests Act Needed


In the Nov. 19 issue of this paper Jill Gottesman of the Wilderness Society claimed that H.R. 2647 (The Resilient Federal Forests Act of 2015) would “eliminate options for public comment,” and “put logging above all other interests” on the national forests. Nothing could be further from the truth.

In fact, the bill incentivizes collaboration among disparate interests by ensuring that environmental groups, timber companies, local stakeholders, and wildlife interests all have a seat at the table in deciding appropriate actions. Perhaps what Gottesman dislikes about the bill is that...
