City Changes Water Plant Focus - Brevard

The city of Brevard is moving away from original plans to build a new water treatment plant and instead is focusing its efforts on upgrading the current plant at Cathey’s Creek.

The city’s Utilities and Water Committee voted unanimously during its December meeting to recommend to city council that a second intake be constructed as part of the Cathey’s Creek water treatment plant that would pull water from where the French Broad meets Cathey’s Creek as well as to recommend other upgrades be made to the facility after hearing a report from a consultant recommending the moves.
