Forests, Parks Need Money


North Carolina State Parks set a new attendance record in 2015. According to Gov. Pat McCrory’s office, attendance increased from 15.6 million people in 2014 to 17.3 million people in 2015. That’s an 11 percent increase in one year.

Leading the way with the largest percentage increase was our own Gorges State Park, which saw attendance jump by 48 percent last year. Its closest competitors were Lake Norman State Park and Pilot Mountain State Park, which saw a 35 percent increase in attendance.
