Public Land Managers Give Updates On Activities - Brevard NC

 


During the recent Transylvania Natural Resource’s Council meeting, reports were given on recent activity in the three major public lands in the county.

During the meeting, Bob Twomey spoke on behalf of DuPont State Recreational Forest.

“Right now, we’re in the maintenance period up there,” said Twomey. “Visitation has dropped off tremendously right now. We’re trying to cut hazardous trees, especially around the main waterfall corridors.”

In 2015, the forest had more than 680,000 visitors.
