River Presbyterian

The Maundy Thursday Communion and Tenebrae Service at Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church will be held Thursday, March 24, at 7:30 p.m. Special music for the service will be provided by the Chancel Choir, which will be accompanied by a string quartet, flute, piano and organ.

In the Speakers Forum Class Sunday, March 27, Easter Sunday, “On the Road to the Cross, Facing Jerusalem” Rev. Dr. Tom Lewis will take participants down the Via Dolorosa (Way of Tears), to Golgotha, the Empty Tomb, and finally the thrill of hope. This forum is held at 9:45 a.m. in the fellowship hall.

Join the congregation for worship on Easter Sunday, 8:30 or 11 a.m., with Keith Thompson preaching. Music for the Easter Sunday services will be provided by the Chancel Choir. Also participating in the worship services will be Tyler Hutchins, trumpeter, and Gavin Glover, timpanist.

Brevard FUMC

Someone said that for the Christian, Easter Sunday is the “Final Four, the World Series, and the Super Bowl” all rolled into one great day of celebration! The tomb of Jesus was empty! Jesus is alive! And for that reason, Christians have looked to this Sunday as the “high point” of the Christian calendar.

Brevard First UMC invites all to its Easter Sunday celebrations. They begin Sunday with a sunrise service at 7 p.m. in front of the Chapel, followed by worship services at 8:30 a.m., 9 and 10:55. Join them for joyous music and worship.

Brevard Quakers

Brevard Quakers of the Religious Society of Friends will gather at 11 a. m. for worship, Sunday, April 27, in the activities room of College Walk Retirement Community. Visitors are welcome to worship with Friends.

Friends’ Testimony on Equality is based upon the Quaker belief that everyone is equal in the eyes of God. Friends reject discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, religion, nationality, class, gender, age or sexual orientation, and work to change people and institutions that perpetuate prejudice.

“My humanity is bound up in yours, for we can only be human together,” said Desmond Tutu, cleric/activist.



Brevard Wesleyan Church Easter Celebration Schedule is as follows.

March 25: Special Good Friday Service with Communion at 6:30 p.m.

March 26: Easter Egg Hunt for all children with hot dog lunch at the church’s property located at 119 Brown Road in Pisgah Forest beginning at 12 p.m.

Easter Sunday, March 27:

•Sunrise service at 119 Brown Road, Pisgah Forest at 7 a.m.

•Easter breakfast at 8:30 a.m.

•Easter Resurrection celebration worship service at 10 a.m.

All activities are held at the church, 583 N. Broad St. in Brevard, unless noted.

Carr’s Hill


Carr’s Hill Baptist Church invites the public to Easter services Sunday, March 27, beginning with Sunrise Service at 9 a.m., followed by breakfast, Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. There will be a special musical/scripture program, “Jesus Lives.”

Dunn’s Creek


Dunn’s Creek Baptist Church will have an Easter Sunrise Service at 7:30 a.m. this Sunday. Breakfast will be served afterward at See Off Community Center. Worship is at 11 a.m. at the church. There will be no Sunday school. All are welcome.


Chapel UMC

English Chapel United Methodist Church will host a community sunrise service at 7 a.m. Easter Sunday, March 27.

The regular service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Breakfast will be provided after each event.

The church is located on 276 North just past the Visitor Center in Pisgah National Forest.

Enon Baptist

Enon Baptist Church will offer the Road to Resurrection on Friday, March 25, beginning at 6 p.m. Tours on the Road to Resurrection begin every 15 minutes and travelers will follow Jesus’ footsteps of the week leading to His death and resurrection.

Lutheran Church

Of The

Good Shepherd

Join the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd for one or more of the special worship services during Holy Week. On Maundy Thursday gather at 7 p.m. to participate in Holy Communion. The Good Friday service, at 7 p.m., will feature the Passion story. As the altar is stripped, people will meditate on the love of Christ and pray for all creation. An Easter Vigil will be held Saturday from 7-8:30 p.m. This Service of Light will include affirmation of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. On Easter Sunday, March 27, celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord. All are welcome.

An Easter breakfast with proceeds to benefit the youth programs will be available from 9:15-10:15 a.m. on March 27. No Sunday school classes will be held that day.

Sunday, March 27, there is sunrise service scheduled at the church starting at 7:15 a.m. Breakfast will be served following the service. Sunday school starts at 10 a.m. with classes for all ages. The morning worship is at 11 a.m. Pastor Sidney Calhoun will bring the message from God’s Word. Children’s worship is at 11:20 a.m. There will be no evening activities on March 27.

On Wednesday, March 30, the Celebration Choir has practice at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m., there is prayer meeting for the adults, and ReMix for students.

Everyone is invited to this week’s special events and regular services.

New Hope


New Hope Baptist Church will be having an Easter egg hunt Saturday, March 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be an Easter story, crafts, hot dog plate and egg hunt. All are welcome.

The church is located on Good Neighbor Drive near Harmony Korner on the Rosman Highway.


Recording artist Trevor Hager will be at NEXT Church on Easter Sunday. Hager has recently been touring in Europe and the U.S., and he’s looking forward to leading worship with some familiar music as well as some of his recent original recordings. Pastor Dave Blackburn will be sharing a message of hope and transformation.

NEXT Church meets on Sundays at the Boys & Girls Club of Transylvania County at 11 Gallimore Road in Brevard.

Come early for coffee at 10:30 a.m. The service starts at 11. Nursery and children’s activities are provided at the same time.

During the month of March, NEXT Kids are learning that “Hope is believing that something good can come out of something bad.”

Oak Grove


Rev. Mark Parker will be bringing the message Easter morning, March 27, at 11 a.m. to Oak Grove Community Church. Everyone is invited. The church is located on the Asheville Highway across from Blue Ridge Community College.

Pisgah Forest


The following events will be held at Pisgah Forest Baptist Church:

On March 25 a Good Friday service will be held at 6:30 p.m.

On March 27 Easter services begin with a Sunrise service at 7:25 a.m., followed by breakfast and Sunday school with worship at 10:30 a.m. There will be no evening services.

On March 30 Sunday school teachers meet at 6 p.m. for classes for pre-schoolers through youth. At 6:30 p.m. are Prayer/Bible study, Colossians Bible study and Ladies Bible study (Seamless).

Rocky Hill


The choir of Rocky Hill Baptist Church will present the Easter Sunrise cantata at Symmes Chapel, better known as “Pretty Place,” on Easter beginning at 6:15 a.m. Gates to the YMCA Camp Greenville, caretakers of Pretty Place chapel, open at 5 a.m. and there will be a shuttle to take folks from the ball field to the chapel. It is suggested visitors arrive early.

Dr. Leland Holland, pastor of Rocky Hill church, will bring the message and the choir, lead by Lenoir Bishop, will bring the message in song. Call Pastor Holland at (828) 862-5611 for more information.

Camp Greenville will have a buffet breakfast available to all in their dining room following the Easter program.

The Easter cantata will again be performed inside Rocky Hill Baptist Church during the 11 a.m. service. All are welcome!

St. Timothy UMC

St. Timothy will observe this most Holy Week of the year with a series of worship events.

Tonight, March 24, St. Timothy will observe Maundy Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. with a communal meal commemorating the Last Supper followed by communion and a worship service remembering Jesus’ final hours.

On Good Friday, March 26, congregants will join with other Koininia worshipers at Bethel “A” Baptist church for the season’s final Koininia service followed by a light luncheon.

Also on Good Friday, individuals may sign up to receive text messages that will follow the hour by hour events of Jesus’ last day. Text “@goodfri” to 81010 to receive instructions.

St. Timothy will begin Easter Sunday, March 27, at 7 a.m. with a sunrise service at Oak Grove Cemetery. Later, at 10 a.m. there will be an Easter egg hunt for children of all ages, which will include a Bible lesson, donuts and juice.

A traditional worship service will begin at 10:55 a.m. celebrating the most important day in the Christian year. There will be special music, scripture and preaching along with a flower-bedecked cross.

The Reading Women meeting has been rescheduled to Sunday, April 3, at 4 p.m. The subject book is “The Talk Funny Girl” by Roland Merullo.
