Board Discusses School Capital Needs - Brevard NC


The Transylvania County Board of Education discussed the school system’s capital funding needs for the upcoming 2016-17 school year at its April 18 meeting.

According to Norris Barger, director of Business Services, the capital appropriation from the county needs to be $2,753,130 to meet the current list of capital projects planned for next year.

Barger said that figure was derived by taking last year’s capital fund appropriation of $1.6 million and adding another $1,153,130. The latter number is the difference between what the county paid to retire school bonds and debt this year (...
