Ray Stamey Sr.

Ray Stamey Sr., 62, of Rocky Mount, N.C., passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2016.

Born in Wilson County, N.C. March 14, 1954, he was the son of the late Cleveland Howard Stamey and Katherine Warrick Stamey.

He grew up in a military family and he was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the United States Army for three years. He was a very patriotic man and a man that loved his Lord Jesus Christ.

He was a loving husband, father and brother and will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Nancy Moss Stamey, of Rocky Mount; son, Eddie Stamey Jr., also of Rocky Mount; his sister, Darlene Whitley, of Lucama; his brother, David Edwards and his wife, Linda, of Kenly, N.C; and his aunts, Faye Paden and husband, Frank and Jewel Allison and husband, Wayne, all of Brevard and Jeanette Dycus, of Greer, S.C.

A funeral service was held Monday, April 25, 2016, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Burial followed at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.

Visitation with the family was from 1 to 3 p.m., prior to the service.

Arrangements were entrusted to Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, in Rocky Mount, N.C .
