Bob Stoner

Bob Stoner

Bob Stoner, 84, of Brevard, is, no doubt, enjoying the face-to-face meeting with his Savior as you read this! God mercifully took him home Saturday, July 2, 2016, around 5:40 p.m. He had been in good health and very active until a recent injury left him in need of very serious surgery. Although given excellent care in Asheville's Mission Hospital, the Lord graciously took him home even before the surgery could occur.

For those who know and love God, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. He loved the Lord, loved his Bethany Baptist Church family and loved serving the Lord at The Wilds Christian Camp.

His dear wife, Ann, preceded him to Glory in 2014. They are survived by their children, Bob Jr. and Patty, Rick and Ellen, and Sandy and Mike, as well as seven grandchildren and their spouses and 16 great-grandchildren.

Originally from Lancaster, Pa., he taught accounting at Bob Jones University for 15 years before moving to Transylvania County in 1980 to work at The Wilds Christian Camp. He was loved and respected by many for his generosity, love and care for others, and love for and service to the Lord.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 5, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, 135 Bert Lane Road, in Brevard.

A service remembering Bob's life and love for the Lord will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church.

Visitation with the family will be before the service, starting at 10 a.m. for those unable to attend Tuesday evening.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations are made to The Wild's Christian Camp Staff Kids Education Fund,

Interment will be at The Wild's Cemetery on Old Toxaway Road in Brevard.
