I have heard we are in a drought. Is that true and is it affecting local agriculture?

As of last Thursday, the county was officially classified as being in “severe drought” as determined by the U.S. Drought Monitor for North Carolina. The other two categories, in ascending order of severity, are extreme drought and exceptional drought.
