Slick Rock Falls in Pisgah National Forest

This week's Outdoor destination is Slick Rock Falls in Pisgah National Forest.

While not very impressive during drier conditions, recent rains make the drive to Slick Rock a worthwhile trip. The 35 foot tall falls cascades an overhanging cliff, which can be walked behind – refreshing on a hot day.

History tells a tale of cattle being driven from the homesteaders who used to make what is now Pisgah their home. The trail they used crossed the falls and sometimes they would fall, hence the name Slick Rock Falls.
