Official: Fish Kill Incident Closed - Brevard NC

 


The case involving last month’s fish kill in King’s Creek at Brevard College is “essentially closed,” according to the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

There are “no definitive conclusions or findings for the fish kill,” according to Zan Price, with DEQ’s Division of Water Resources.

On Aug. 4, more than 150 dead fish were spotted in the creek.

The fish were mostly suckerfish and minnows, but a few brook trout were spotted floating in the creek bottom. Price said that unless new information is brought forward, which would be difficult for an “episodic eve...
