Governor's School Is A Unique Experience

This past summer, we both attended the North Carolina Governor’s School. This is a six-week long residential program for intellectually gifted rising seniors. Students concentrate in a specific subject area, but spend half their class time in interdisciplinary courses attended by everyone on campus.

I, Sam, attended Governor’s School for social science. The topics ranged from political science theory, like political polarization, to tackling current issues. Probably the most unique thing about Governor’s School was the classroom experience. The classes were structured as seminars....
