Kashikoi Tsaru Dojo will hold its grand opening celebration on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The dojo is located at 210 South Caldwell St. in Brevard.

Kashikoi Tsaru Dojo translates as school of the "Wise Crane," or "Wise Crane Dojo." The use of a Japanese name shows respect to the lineage of the martial arts they teach and practice.

The school promotes karate as a lifestyle that trains the whole being. Instructors teach that karate trains the body, mind and spirit. The study of karate develops and encourages growth in all facets of life for those who engage in its practice.

Instructor William Eric Eubanks began his martial arts career in 1986 and holds the rank of 8th degree black belt in two styles of Okinawan karate, Shuri-ryu/Shorei-ryu. Eubanks began teaching professionally in 1997 and began taking private students 2007.

The American style of Knogaimdo taught by instructor Dan Koch is comprised of several martial and combat systems. It is not oriented towards sport, but specifically designed for self-defense. The goal of every Knogaimdo technique is to minimize the time of an encounter with any aggressive attacker. Koch has combined multiple styles of martial arts to create a unique curriculum suited to the American cultural climate.

The goal of the school is to offer the community quality education in the art of karate as a path to both external and internal completeness. As a team Eubanks and Koch have more than 60 years of experience and practice to share.

There are classes for children and adults. There also will be a free self-defense seminar during the grand opening.
