What's more fun than a fall day, llama caddies, a round of golf, beating the pro on a long drive or showing off your putting skills? Absolutely nothing!

SAFE Inc. of Transylvania County and lead sponsor Dugan's Pub will add an Open Putting Contest to their signature fund raiser, Llama Rama, at Sherwood Golf Club on Oct. 1. (The rain date is Oct. 8.) Maria Campbell and Vicky Anthony, volunteers and supporters of SAFE, are sponsoring this new event as part of the longstanding golf tournament.

Campbell said, "This is our eighth annual tournament so we wanted to add a way for more people to get involved."

For a $10 entry fee, participants will have the opportunity to putt three times from three different designated locations.

The goal is to get the ball in the hole in one stroke each time.

The winner will be the person who "putts" the most "holes in one." The contest starts at 8 a.m. All participants must be signed up by 12 p.m.

The contest will run throughout the day until a winner is determined. You do not have to be playing in the golf tournament to participate in the Putting Contest.

Come to the Sherwood Forest Pro Shop to sign up. Organizers have a great prize for the winner, a Garmin Golf Course GPS Unit, and, of course, the pride of helping to end domestic and sexual violence.

All proceeds from the tournament benefit SAFE, Inc., the agency which provides services, including emergency shelter, to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Transylvania County.

Bring the whole family out to SAFE's 8th Annual Llama Rama Golf Tournament and Putting Contest at Sherwood Forest Golf Club, visit with the Llamas from Fairway Friends Llama Farms and see some great golf.
