Politicians are typically wary of the press. Since they want their programs implemented and want to be re-elected, they generally seek to be presented in a positive light. The duty of the press, on the other hand, is to report what politicians are doing, both good and bad. In order to mitigate “bad press,” politicians have developed various tactics so that voters receive a more positive image of their work.

One tactic politicians use to circumvent the press is to have their own websites and newsletters. This allows them to put forth their views without any criticism or fact checking....
