Past letters about Maureen Copelof have accurately described the knowledge, dedication and perseverance of this candidate for N.C. House, District 113. As a retired military officer, I would like to share a somewhat different view.

I served in the Army between 1970 and 1990. During this time I experienced the difficulties of women trying to integrate into the service. The armed forces were very hesitant to allow this integration. The “glass ceiling” was made of iron, with women being only reluctantly “allowed” into combat support positions.
