Undermining Legal System

Last week, U.S. Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina said, “If Hillary becomes president, I’m going to do everything I can to make sure that four years from now we’re still going to have an opening on the Supreme Court.”

Burr’s comments are a 180-degree turn from his previous statements about filling the seat vacated by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia last February. When President Obama nominated the moderate and respected Merrick Garland earlier this year to take Scalia’s seat, Senate Republicans, including Burr, refused to even consider Garland.
