Patricia Ann Cantrell, 53, of Columbus, Ga., died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at Gentiva Hospice.

A memorial service was held Nov. 4, 2016, at The Little Church in the County, in Cataula, Ga.

A memorial service will be held at the Lake Toxaway Community Center (small building), 81 Slick Fisher Road, in Lake Toxaway, Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at 1 p.m. Food will be served, but a good head count is needed. Her ashes, together with those of her infant son's (Nicholas), will be spread locally.

She spent a good portion of her life in the pursuit of family history and genealogy. She was very proud of her patriot roots, having grandfather ancestors who fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812 and the War Between the States.

Her father served in the United States Army and was stationed at Ft. Benning, Ga., and Germany. She was a member of a Columbus chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and a member of the Waightstill Avery Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (Brevard, NC).

Surviving are her son, Joseph R. Cantrell, of Columbus, Ga .; sisters, Victoria C. Lee, of Waverly Hall, Ga., Helga B. Holden and Karin B. Schmidt, both of Melbourne, Australia, and Yvonne B. Prestage, of Tampa, Fla .; a brother, Kenneth R. Cantrell, of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
