It has been nearly three weeks since the general election and the governor’s race is still being contended. After election night, Gov. Pat McCrory found himself trailing Attorney General Roy Cooper by more than 5,000 votes. At that time, it was reasonable for McCrory not to concede because many mail-in absentee and provisional ballots had to be counted. But as those votes have been counted, Cooper’s margin of victory has only increased, now surpassing 9,000 votes.
