Wildfires Inspired A Community Effort – Brevard NC

Chase Owen watched the fire rapidly charge up the side of Pinnacle Mountain in Pickens County, S.C.

The fire was then three weeks old, and on the night before Thanksgiving, Wednesday, Nov. 23, it had reached its own pinnacle by jumping the state line into Transylvania County earlier that afternoon, advancing at what Owen, the Connestee Fire Rescue deputy chief, described as the length of a football field every minute.
