Carrier Deal

On Dec. 1 President-elect Donald Trump announced that Carrier Corp. would not close its operation in Indianapolis, Ind. While the announcement was good news for those who would not lose their jobs, the deal raises a number of questions.

How many jobs were actually saved? Depending upon one’s news source, original reports said Carrier would move anywhere from 1,400 to 2,100 jobs to Mexico. The deal would keep 1,150 of those jobs in Indianapolis. But Mike Jones, local union leader who initially praised the deal, said he later learned only 800 jobs were saved because 350 jobs were not going...
