In a game that was back-and-forth from start to finish, the Brevard Lady Blue Devils came up just short against East Henderson Friday night, falling by a final of 47-46.

Both teams fought back from deficits, with Brevard coming back from nine points down in the first half and East coming back to claim the win after trailing for most of the third quarter.

The two teams traded blows early before the Eagles went on a 12-2 run to take a 19-7 lead after the first quarter.

Shea Williams got things going for Brevard in the second quarter, scoring on two layups and a free throw to cut East's lead to 23-15.

Tristen Berry added a pair of free throws followed by a three-pointer to get the Lady Blue Devils with three, 23-20, with just over two minutes in the first half.

Berry knocked down another three moments later to tie the score at 25 before a trey from Danielle Troyer put Brevard in front, 28-27.

Brevard's turnaround was thanks to a number of offensive rebounds that the Lady Blue Devils converted into second half points.

East held a 29-28 lead at halftime, but a Berry three-pointer and a pair of Ashley McBee free throws helped Brevard open up a four-point lead in the third quarter.

The Lady Blue Devils maintained that advantage and entered the final quarter leading 38-34.

Brevard held it's four-point advantage until an Eagle three-pointer cut the lead to 42-41 with 4:30 to play.

Just over a minute later, East added another basket to take a 43-42 lead.

On their next possession, the Eagles chewed up the clock before sinking a shot to make it 45-42 with just over two minutes to play.

With the score 46-42, McBee hit a pair of free throws to cut the lead to two.

East hit one-of-two free throws on their end, and Brevard's Hannah Cabe did the same on the next possession, leaving the Eagles with a 47-45 lead and 39 seconds remaining.

East turned the ball over on the inbound pass, and Brevard nearly did the same, before Berry was fouled on a shot attempt from the baseline with under five seconds to play.

Berry missed the first attempt and hit the second, leaving Brevard down by one point with 4.2 seconds left.

The Lady Blue Devils fouled on the inbounds pass, sending East to the charity stripe with 2.6 seconds remaining.

The Eagles missed both shots, but Brevard's long-distance heave fell short, giving East the win.

Berry led Brevard with 11 points. McBee and Williams scored eight points a piece.

The loss drops Brevard to 4-6 overall, with an 0-3 mark in WNC Athletic Conference play.

The Lady Blue Devils travel to West Henderson (2-7) on Tuesday and host Rosman (0-7) on Friday.
